Dana White

The UFC has a new home, and UFC president Dana White could not be more excited.

White told TMZ Sports that they will hold UFC 249 on a private island, and plans are in place to bring more fighters in the following weeks to hold events.

UFC 249 is set for April 18 with Tony Ferguson taking on Justin Gaethje for the interim lightweight title.

While all the little things are still being worked out, White is fully-confident in his current plan after weeks of battling the forces of coronavirus.

“I’m also a day or two away from securing a private island,” White said (thanks to MMA Fighting for the quotes). “I have a private island that I’ve secured. We’re getting the infrastructure put in now, so I’m gonna start doing the international fights too with international fighters.

“Because I won’t be able to get international fighters, all of them into the US, so I have a private island and I’m gonna start flying them all into the private island and doing international fights from there. We have all our own planes and everything.”

The promotion also revealed the entire fight card for UFC 249, including a rematch of former champions Jessica Andrade and Rose Namajunas.

While the sports world has shutdown since COVID-19, White has tried his best to push forward. The promotion held a card in Brazil, and has been set on doing the same with UFC 249.

“Everybody is going to be pre-tested and tested and tested,” White said. “We’re going to make sure that 100 percent healthy athletes, healthy athletic commission people, healthy judges, referees, my production people, that everybody there is healthy. We’re going to make sure that everybody is safe before, during and after the fights.”

Joe Rogan, who has been outspoken against the event taking place, will be calling the action according to White.
