More than 8,000 people in the United Kingdom have tested positive for coronavirus, and Prince Charles is one of them. The Prince of Wales is the first member of the Royal Family who has the deadly virus. Clarence House announced the diagnosis on Wednesday. His wife Camilla tested negative. Prince Charles’ diagnosis comes just after the world learned that a royal aide at Buckingham Palace tested positive for coronavirus, forcing the Queen to be moved.
This diagnosis proves nobody is immune. We are all in this together.
The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall are self isolating at Balmoral. The Queen last saw her son on March 12th. Prince Charles only has mild symptoms at this time and does not require hospitalization at this time.
His symptoms began over the weekend and he was tested on coronavirus. Prince Charles’ positive result came back on Tuesday.
The Prince attended a large number of royal engagements in the last few weeks so it is unsure where he contracted coronavirus.
Her Majesty the Queen is being cautious taking precautions and “following all the appropriate advice with regard to her welfare.” She is self-isolating at Windsor Castle where her husband Prince Philip is as well.
One of her royal aides tested positive for coronavirus, so the Royal Family is now taking added precautions to safeguard the 93-year-old Sovereign and the 98-year-old Duke of Edinburgh.
BACKSTORY: Queen Elizabeth’s Royal Aide Tests Positive For Coronavirus
Given their advanced ages, the royal couple are at high risk for complications from coronavirus.
Charles and Camilla are taking the advice of medical professionals and isolating from each other since the Duchess tested negative for the disease. They are taking precautions so she does not contract it from her husband.
Amidst the coronavirus pandemic, Prince Charles began taking precautions while at public events. Instead of shaking hands to greet people, he began using the Namaste greeting. Despite that, he still contracted the virus, proving we are all vulnerable at this time.
During times of crisis, the Royal Family looks for ways to comfort and reassure the public that everything will be fine.
Just last week, the Queen released a statement emphasizing the importance of social distancing while remaining in contact with those we love. Now, the Royal Family will certainly be practicing what the Queen preached since Prince Charles has coronavirus.
