Mark Wahlberg Confronts DJ At Daddy Daughter Dance Over Trashy Music

Mark Wahlberg shared a story about his 10-year-old daughter’s dance that will have parents cheering. Often, today’s popular music is not appropriate for children Grace’s age and this protective dad wasn’t about to stand for it.

Mark Wahlberg’s Christian Faith

Triple threat Mark Wahlberg is a rarity in Hollywood. Not only is his faith important to him, but he openly shares it with his fans.

The Boston native is raising his four children with traditional values. They are devout Catholics and he wants them to know life outside of the Tinseltown bubble.

The singer turned actor told Ellen DeGeneres about the Daddy Daughter Dance he attended with his youngest daughter. Grace was afraid that her dad would bust out dance moves like in his 90s hit “Good Vibrations.”

“I didn’t get one dance,” the dad said. “And I told her we were going to do the whole big circle and I was going to go off. And she said, ‘Dad, if you embarrass me, I will never talk to you again.’ But what she did do is she hung out with me.”

If any of you have seen the movie Daddy’s Home, this conjures up the scene where Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg engage in a dad v. stepdad dance off.

Mark Wahlberg As A Protective Dad

Wahlberg has grown up quite a bit since he was a singer. He recognizes that many of the songs on the radio are just not appropriate for children Grace’s age. Some songs have edited versions that are tamed down for the radio or for events like this dance.

But, this dad flew into action when he heard lyrics to a song that he didn’t want his young daughter being exposed to.

“[Grace] sat there on the edge of the stage, by the DJ. And then I’m sitting there with one other dad and I’m like, ‘This is not an edited version of this song. There are explicit lyrics being played at a school dance for girls and I’m like no good,'” Wahlberg told Ellen.

“I told the DJ and he’s like, ‘Oh, I thought it was.’ I said, ‘What are you doing?’ I’m hearing F-bombs and this and that’s not okay,” he continued.

The DJ didn’t realize he wasn’t playing the edited version. While everyone can make mistakes, this was a pretty big one. Nowadays many parents wouldn’t notice as they might be distracted or shy away from being the party pooper, but Wahlberg stepped right up and fixed the situation.

Parents need to take a proactive approach to protecting their children. He did just that! Mark Wahlberg is simply a Hollywood gem!
