Donors to Prince Harry’s beloved Invictus Games charity have reportedly turned on him after he and his wife Meghan Markle decided to move to Canada. This is just the latest in a cascade of repercussions following the couple’s jaw-dropping split from the royal fold.
Prince Harry started Duke’s Invictus Games Foundation back in 2014 to help wounded war veterans coming back from Afghanistan. Backers of the Veteran focused charity now say that Harry abandoned them when he left the United Kingdom to move to Canada.
“I am just bloody angry,” said one supporter who has donated thousands to the foundation, according to Page Six. “There is this expectation that we go out and flog ourselves and find support bringing in cash for Invictus. He could make this a whole lot easier if he did something as well. He could text anyone.”
Another volunteer with the Invictus Games charity said that Harry left without thanking Invictus supporters. Or even bothering to reassure them that he remains committed to the charity.
“Everybody has been unwavering until now, but everybody feels they have been dropped like a bad habit,” the volunteer said.
The bad blood comes just one month after Harry and Meghan announced there were taking a step back from life as senior royals to move to North America with their son, Archie.
“The decision that I have made for my wife and I to step back is not one I made lightly,” Harry said recently during a charity event in London. “It was so many months of talks after so many years of challenges. And I know I haven’t always gotten it right, but as far as this goes, there really was no other option.”
Just last week, the Queen officially made it known that Harry and Meghan will not be allowed to use the word “royal” in their future branding.

Though supporters of the charity are upset by this move, the foundation’s bosses have been supporting Harry and Meghan publicly.
“We are proud to have the Duke of Sussex as our patron. The Invictus Games was founded by him, has been built on his ideas and he remains committed to the games and the foundation,” CEO Dominic Reid said.
At the time of this writing, Harry and Meghan are still scheduled to attend the Invictus Games in May.
This is just further evidence that Harry and Meghan made the wrong call moving to Canada. Renouncing your royal duties is not a decision to be made lightly. And it’s certain to involve a variety of different repercussions for the high profile couple going forward.
