Prince Harry completing his final Royal family duties

Prince Harry used one of his final engagements as a senior member of the royal family to make it clear that he wants to shed his Royal ties and responsibilities. Before speaking at the Travalyst conference in Edinburgh, the 35-year-old asked to be introduced as just Harry. Now, it seems, he intends to ditch the Prince title entirely.

Just Call Him Harry

The Travalyst conference promotes eco-friendly tourism and marks Harry’s first public appearance since announcing that he and his wife were stepping down from their roles as senior royals just a couple years after their very public wedding and taxpayer-funded renovations of Frogmore Cottage.

“He’s made it clear that we are all just to call him Harry. So ladies and gentlemen, please give a big, warm, Scottish welcome to Harry,” event host Ayesha Hazarika informed the audience, according to Daily Mail. That’s right, the youngest son of Prince Charles and Princess Diana requested to simply be called ‘Harry’.

Queen Hurt By Prince Harry And Meghan

Harry flew from Canada and then took a train to Edinburgh to talk about the importance of traveling in ways that won’t harm the environment.

Does anyone detect a note of irony here – or hypocrisy? In the modern age, he could have accomplished this by teleconferencing from his home in Canada without the hypocrisy. The hypocrisy was not lost on Piers Morgan.

Harry and wife Meghan are known for their environmental activism. Which makes Harry flying in a jet to an eco-conference all the more amusing. On top of that, Harry and Meghan found themselves in hot water after royal experts projected the taxpayer burden of their jet-setting lifestyle from Canada.

The couple will make five more appearances before completing their final Royal duties on March 31st. After that, the couple will no longer use their “royal highness” titles. They also are barred from using the term Royal or Sussex Royal in their personal branding.

Queen Elizabeth is anxious to get this chapter behind her. The sovereign sees this as being very damaging to the monarchy. Harry and Meghan’s announcement on Instagram has been incredibly hurtful to his 93-year-old Grandmother and 98-year-old Grandfather.

“The queen has been keen to get this resolved because she sees it damaging to the monarchy and on a personal level I think this has been rather hurtful for her,” a Royal source said.

No Shows At Prince Andrew’s 60th Birthday Party

This has been quite the trying time for the aging Queen.

Not only has she been dealing with the embarrassment of Megxit, but also a scandal involving her second son, Prince Andrew. The Duke of York’s high profile scandal stems from his friendship with convicted pedophile Jeffrey Epstein. As well as accusations by Virginia Roberts Giuffre who claims she was forced to have sex with the duke while just 17 years old.

Amidst the scandal, Prince Andrew was forced to step down from his Royal duties. The final straw was a disastrous BBC interview where Andrew very poorly explained his relationship with Epstein and the underage sex accusations made against him.

Last week, Prince Andrew celebrated his 60th birthday with a private dinner party. None of the senior royals attended. Including Queen Elizabeth and her other children, Andrew’s siblings. Their absence sends quite a loud message.

At this point, the Queen is determined to save face and protect the monarchy. Though it seems some of her family members refuse to make that an easy task.
