Jussie Smollett Indicted Again By Chicago Special Prosecutor Months After Initial Charges Were Dropped

Moments ago, it was reported that disgraced “Empire” star Jussie Smollett has been indicted by a special prosecutor in Chicago almost one year after all charges were dropped against him for allegedly faking a hate crime against himself.

Jussie Smollett Indicted By Special Prosecutor

Fox32 out of Chicago reported that a source confirmed that Smollett was indeed indicted today by special prosecutor Dan Webb, and he is due in court on February 24. It is not clear at this time what Smollett has been charged with.

Smollett made headlines in January of 2019 when he claimed he was the victim of a hate crime. The actor reported to police that two men jumped him and tied a noose around his neck while shouting racist and homophobic slurs at him. He also alleged that the men had shouted “this is MAGA country”. This indicated to everyone that alleged his attackers must be supporters of Donald Trump.

Jussie Smollett’s Story Falls Apart

As police began to investigate, however, Smollett’s story fell apart.

Smollett’s attackers were identified as Nigerian brothers Abel and Ola Osundairo. The two men were friends of the actor, according to the Daily Mail. The brothers said that Smollett paid them to attack him in an attempt to earn himself more fame and a higher salary on “Empire.”

Then, Smollett found himself facing fifty years behind bars after being hit with a 16-count grand jury indictment. That is, until Chicago prosecutor Kim Foxx inexplicably dropped all charges against him.

Prosecutor Foxx’s controversial decision was a slap in the face to Chicago police officers who invested tons of time and manpower investigating the case. Not to mention the taxpayers who footed that bill.

It was also a slap in the face to the millions of Trump supporters who were unfairly vilified when Smollett played off tensions between the left and the right to push this alleged hate crime hoax.

Special Prosecutor Dan Webb

Webb was brought in as the special prosecutor assigned to take another look at the case. He was specifically tasked with determining if Kim Foxx was right to drop the charges.

The charges in today’s indictment have not yet been released. However, it certainly looks like Webb determined Foxx was wrong to let Smollett off the hook.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
