The music power couple Jay-Z and Beyonce, who are close personal friends of the Obama family, found themselves in hot water this week. They were spotted sitting during the national anthem while Demi Lovato performed at the Super Bowl. Now, they are trying to backtrack, as Jay-Z is claiming that they were not trying to make a political statement. Here’s just one tweet calling them out on it:
Anti-American spoiled brats Jay-Z and Beyoncé refuse to stand during our Naitonal Anthem
This is why black America is defecting from the Democrats
Ruling class hacks deserve to be exposed
RT to show the world their hatred of our country

Jay-Z Claims It Wasn’t A Political Protest
Fox News reported that during a Q&A at Columbia University in New York City yesterday, the rapper Jay-Z was asked directly if he was trying to “convey a signal” by remaining seated during the anthem.
“It actually wasn’t,” Jay-Z replied. “Sorry.”
Jay-Z then claimed that he and his wife were too distracted with analyzing Lovato’s singing that they simply forgot to stand during our country’s anthem. He alleged that since Beyonce had performed at the Super Bowl before, her focus was solely on what Lovato must be feeling.
As for himself, Jay-Z said that he was distracted by making sure all the audio was working well. The company he founded, Roc Nation, has been handling all audio for the Super Bowl entertainment since they formed a long-term partnership with the NFL last year.
“We get there and we immediately jump into artist mode,” he explained. “…So now I’m just really looking at the show. Did the mics start? Was it too low to start?”

Jay Z And Beyonce Were Too Focused On The Music To Stand
Jay-Z added that he wanted to ensure that fans at home could “really feel the music.” So, he wanted it to all sound perfect.
“The whole time, we’re sitting there, we’re talking about the performance and right after that, Demi comes out and we’re talking about how beautiful she looked and how she sounds and what she’s going through in her life for her to be on the stage, we’re so proud of her,” Jay-Z said.
“It just happened,” he added. “I didn’t have to make a silent protest. If you look at the stage, the artists that we chose, Colombian [Shakira], Puerto Rican JLo [Jennifer Lopez] … we were making the biggest loudest protest of all.”

We Aren’t Buying His Excuses
Give me a break.
It’s insulting to the intelligence of Americans everywhere that Jay-Z expects us all to believe that he and Beyonce were so engrossed in the music that they forgot to stand for the national anthem. At the very least, this shows a clear lack of respect for the anthem. The couple think so little of it that they can’t even be bothered to stand up for the song.
Jay-Z and Beyonce could have focused on the music and sound quality just as easily if they were standing up. They should be apologizing for what they did instead of offering nonsensical excuses for it.
