104-Year-Old World War II Veteran ‘Floored’ To Receive Over 200,000 Valentine’s Day Cards

Last month, we reported that a 104 year-old World War II veteran had asked the public to send him Valentine’s Day cards. Maj. Bill White’s dream was to receive one hundred cards. Now, it’s been learned that the honored Vet ended up getting a whole lot more than he originally bargained for!

WWII Veteran Receives Hundreds Of Thousands Of Cards

According to Fox News, Maj. Bill White received over 200,000 Valentine’s Day cards. The greetings poured in after a friend of his created a social media campaign called “Operation Valentine” to collect Valentine’s Day cards for the California veteran.

Maj. White, who lives in a nursing home in Stockton, stays busy these days by scrapbooking, which is his favorite hobby. He also has many different war medals in his home. Including the Purple Heart that he was awarded after surviving the Battle of Iwo Jima in 1945.

104yo White Originally Asked For 100 Cards

Maj. White was hoping to collect 100 Valentine’s Day cards this year to represent his one hundred years. So the humble senior was stunned to receive hundreds of thousands of cards.

During an interview with Fox News host Martha MacCallum on “The Story” on Wednesday, the WWII Veteran was delighted to say that he had received over 200,000 cards before Valentine’s Day.

“It just floored me, this is something that has never happened to me before in my life, and I doubt this will ever happen again!” the veteran joked.

Maj. White has been getting so much mail that his family has had to recruit volunteers just to help them go through it all.

Despite this big effort, the WWII Veteran said that he was never one to make a huge deal out of celebrating Valentine’s Day, even when his beloved wife of 42 years was still alive.

WWII Veteran Overwhelmed By All The Love

“It’s something I’ve never heard of or seen,” he said of all the love he’s gotten. “All of a sudden here, like a ton of bricks. I’m sort of speechless.”

If you would still like to send Maj. White a card, you can mail one to this address:

If you’re one of the many who sent a token of love and appreciation to this brave WWII Veteran, we thank you. What a great way to honor such an American treasure!
