Conor McGregor first pitch

Conor McGregor hasn’t been firing too many verbal jabs at Donald Cerrone as they get set to fight at UFC 246, Saturday. But, recently McGregor outlined why he’s predicting he’ll KO “Cowboy” in their highly anticipated fight.

McGregor makes his “Mystic Mac” prediction

McGregor hasn’t always been right when he’s made predictions for his UFC bouts. After all, he’s been defeated by Nate Diaz and Khabib Nurmagomedov during his UFC run, and obviously he wasn’t predicting he’d lose those fights before they went down. But, the former lightweight and featherweight champ has made several, spot-on predictions during his time with the UFC, and thus, he carries the “Mystic Mac” nickname.

Well, the UFC held a press conference on Wednesday to promote this Saturday’s bout. McGregor was asked to comment on how he sees the fight playing out against Cerrone, and yes, he was also asked to make his “Mystic Mac” prediction.

Here’s some of what the controversial star had to say (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“I can read Donald,” McGregor said. “I like him and all, he’s a good guy, but I can read Donald like a children’s book if we’re being honest. He’s a good fighter, he’s got some good tricks up his sleeve. I know the tricks he has, I know what he’s planning and what he hopes to achieve, but we’re well prepared, and we’ll see on the night. It’s going to be a good night.”

“I certainly feel like I have the speed advantage,” McGregor said. “I’m feeling confident going in there. I’m feeling confident against anyone. A full prepared, fully committed Conor McGregor – there’s no one that can touch me. I’m great at this game. I made this game what it is. I’ll remind the world Jan. 18.”

“He has my respect,” McGregor said. “Although there will be blood spilled on Jan. 18, it will not be bad blood. The ‘Mystic Mac’ prediction will be a KO.”

The folks that are predicting McGregor to win, and they seem to be the majority, are likely thinking he’ll do so via KO or TKO. The reason being that Cerrone has been a slow starter in many of his fights, McGregor hits very hard, and Cerrone has been tagged in many of his recent bouts.

But, if Cerrone can weather the storm early on, put together his combinations and take McGregor into the later rounds, “Cowboy” might just spoil another of “Mystic Mac’s” pics.
