UFC On ESPN 7: Jairzinho Rozenstruik Finishes Alistair Overeem

It took almost five complete rounds, but Jairzinho Rozenstruik gave those that stuck around something to cheer for.

Rozenstruik knocked out Alistair Overeem Saturday night in the main even to UFC on ESPN 7 with just seconds remaining in the fifth and final round. The card aired live on ESPN from Washington, D.C., marking just the second UFC event to go down there.

The co-main event was met with unfinished results, as Marina Rodriguez and Cynthia Calvillo was declared a majority draw. It would be the second such decision of the night, as Cody Stamman and Song Yadong faced the same fate.

Calvillo missed weight for the bout, coming in heavy, but Rodriguez still took the contest at a catchweight.

Heavyweights Ben Rothwell and Stefan Struve had several exchanges of words after Rothwell struck Struve below the belt. After taking several minutes to recover, Struve was met with the striking power of Rothwell, falling via second round TKO.

Aspen Ladd stopped Yana Kunitskaya in the third round and Rob Font bested Ricky Simon to complete the main card.

On the prelims, Tim Means submitted Thiago Alves, Billy Quarantillo did the same to Jacob Kilburn and Joe Solecki downed Matt Wiman.

Bryce Mitchell, though, stole the show, as he locked up a twister submission on Matt Sayles. It was a big-time win for Mitchell, as Sayles also missed weight and forfeited 20 percent of his fight purse to him.

Vima Jandiroba forced Mallory Martin to tap and Makhmud Muradov kicked off the night with a knockout of Trevor Smith late in the third round.

During the event, the UFC honored the late step-daughter of Walt Harris, Aniah Blanchard, as she was murdered recently. Harris was scheduled to face Overeem in the main event, but pulled out after she went missing.
