A mere month ago, Ronda Rousey stated that she would not return to wrestling. Fortunately for her fans, she seems to have changed her mind. In an interview, she stated she is looking for a way to combine starting a family with her wrestling career.
During a recent interview with People magazine, The Baddest Woman on the Planet revealed she is not done with wrestling yet.
“Right now, I think my family needs my undivided attention. I’m happy to give them that. But I’m trying to figure out a way or a system or somehow that I could give both my family and WWE the best of me and not be half ass in both.”
Based on her statement in People magazine, she has not given up on wrestling at all. Even though she is still focused on starting a family, she is not ruling out a return to the WWE at all. This stands in stark contrast with some of the statements that were released over the past couple of months.
During the interview, Rousey admitted she loves watching the current female competitors do their thing. She also mentions how brilliant all the female superstars are doing.
Interestingly, Ronda also stated that it is better for the other female superstars that she is taking a step back from wrestling for now. She is probably hinting at the fact that she is an enigmatic superstar that gets a lot of attention. And that leaves little room for up-and-coming superstars to make their mark.
“And I would love to add to what they’re doing. I don’t want to ever be a hindrance or take away from what they’re doing or steal the spotlight from some up and coming girls that deserve it more than me.”
Today, there are many rules about celebrities and how they should act. It is refreshing to see a “celebrity” that is far from what you expect. Despite all her fame and fortune, she lives quite a simple life. The fame hasn’t gone to her head either which is refreshing in a world where ego plays a large role.
A return to wrestling for Ronda would be amazing. She is a natural and has provided some of the best main roster matches over the past decade. Of course, this should not go at the expense of her family. So, she is making the smart decision in trying to find a good balance.
Whether she returns to wrestling or not, Rousey will go down in history nonetheless. She contributed to female wrestlers headlining WrestleMania in a major way and transformed WWE management’s way of thinking.
She also left her mark on mixed martial arts, so she is always going to be a household name. Would we love to see her again in a wrestling ring? You bet! But, it should be her decision at the end of the day. Based on her recent statements, I don’t think we’ve seen the last of her yet.
