Add Will Brooks to the list of former mixed martial artists looking to transition into pro wrestling.
Brooks, a former UFC fighter and Bellator lightweight champion, is one of over 40 athletes who have been invited to participate in the third WWE tryout for 2019. The 33-year-old will be attempting to impress the promotion this week in Orlando, Florida at the WWE Performance Center.
During his MMA career, Brooks has won 20 of 26 bouts, including two victories over Michael Chandler. He competed four times for the UFC, going 1-3, and most recently lost to Gleison Tibau at Battlefield FC in July.
The list of participants in the tryout include another MMA fighter, amateur Lainey Nations, former NFL wide receiver Isaiah Williams and a number of independent wrestlers. You can see the entire list on WWE.
All Elite Wrestling will head to Chicago in 2020 for AEW: Revolution.
The pay-per-view event is set for Saturday, February 29 from the Wintrust Arena. It will take place the same weekend as C2E2, a popular pop culture/comic book expo that brings in several movie and television show stars.
The poster release includes reigning champion Chris Jericho, Jon Moxley and several others. No bouts have been made official for the event to date. Moxley scored a victory over Alex Reynolds on a recent edition of AEW Dynamite, with Jericho making him an offer immediately after.
The most recent AEW pay-per-view took place this past November from Baltimore, Maryland and the Royal Farms Arena. There have been five events this year from the promotion since May, including one just outside of Chicago back in August that featured Jericho vs. Adam Page for the inaugural AEW world championship.
