A recent photo of Jose Aldo has been making the rounds, and some folks are saying the legendary fighter isn’t looking too good, including Darren Till.
The former featherweight champ is booked to make his bantamweight debut against Marlon Moraes, at UFC 245, December 14th. When Aldo announced he was making the drop to 135, concerns were expressed, including by Dana White, regarding the star’s ability to make that cut.
Well, recently Eduardo Dantas shared out the image below, and it’s prompted some observers to question how Aldo is doing.
Case in point, Till had this to say:
Just seen a photo of aldo
Wow he doesn’t look to good man
I don’t get this cut to 135
I think he is gonna badly struggle or may not even make it
I think it would of been wiser to go up rather than down
As you get older the cut gets harder not easier
I got marlon for this
Perhaps, not surprisingly, Aldo has been saying he feels great as he makes the cut to 135. While talking to the media recently, the former featherweight champ said this (quote via MMA Fighting):
“Man, as incredible as it sounds, I’m feeling great, fast, stronger, so it’s been fine,” said Aldo, who weighed 152.1 pounds 10 days before the official UFC 245 weigh-ins. “I have the support of great professionals by my side so everything will be alright.”
“I had it in my mind that it would be difficult to make weight, to go on a diet, but it was the exact opposite,” he added. “I’m feeling strong, training super well. I haven’t felt this way even when I was in the WEC. That makes me believe I have a lot more to give, and you can be sure that I will fight for many years.”
So, we’ll see what happens here. Aldo’s not the first fighter to claim a cut is going well, when photos of them appear to indicate otherwise. Hopefully the remaining pounds Aldo has to cut come off in a manner that leaves him healthy and ready to compete…
Aldo (28-5) will be fighting for the first time since May, when he lost via decision to top featherweight contender, Alexander Volkanovski. Prior to that the 33-year-old recorded back-to-back, stoppage wins over Jeremy Stephens and Renato “Moicano”.
