Conor McGregor

A recent picture that was shared out of Jose Aldo has prompted concerns about his pending bantamweight debut. But, Conor McGregor says he disagrees with the naysayers. Not only that, the controversial star has wished his former foe all the best in his new division.

The now, much-discussed picture of Aldo

As you likely know, Aldo is preparing to make his bantamweight debut against Marlon Moraes at UFC 245, December 14th. When Aldo announced his decision to drop down from featherweight to 135, more than a few people expressed reservations. For years, there was talk about Aldo moving up to 155 and not down a division.

Well, recently Aldo’s teammate Eduardo Dantas shared out a pic of the former champ, and it’s sparked a fair amount of feedback online. For example, Darren Till relayed that he doesn’t think Aldo looks “good” and that he believes the legend will “badly struggle” to make weight.

McGregor comments on the picture

Helwani also said the picture is “very troubling”, which prompted this response from McGregor:

I disagree here. He looks more than on top of it in my experienced opinion. Well trimmed in advance, and naturally a lighter man now. This can only be done over a long length of time and with complete dedication. Respect! I wish him well and am excited to see him in this division

How about that? It’s worth noting that many people expressed concerns about McGregor when he was cutting to 145, and he did win the UFC’s featherweight crown (by quickly putting away Aldo).

McGregor likely won’t have to worry about cutting to much weight for his next bout, however, as he’s booked to fight Donald Cerrone at welterweight, January 18th.
