UFC Moscow: Zabit Magomedsharipov Defeats Game Calvin Kattar

Zabit Magomedsharipov remains undefeated in the UFC, after getting by a game, Calvin Kattar today in Moscow.

Zabit Magomedsharipov never appeared to be in any serious danger today against Calvin Kattar, but he did have to deal with a late surge from the game featherweight, today at UFC Moscow.

Round one

Magomedsharipov fired a couple of leg kicks to begin the fight. Magomedsharipov also stuck a few jabs in the early going. Kattar pressed forward a couple of minutes in and threatened with a big right. Magomedsharipov scored with a front kick to the face and then he briefly put Kattar down with a well time leg kick. In the final minute, Magomedsharipov planted a left to the body and Kattar fired back with a right. Kattar winged a big right and then missed with a flying knee. 

Round two

The busy pace continued early on into round two and Magomedsharipov continued to toss plenty of kicks. Magomedsharipov just missed with a spinning back fist and then fired a sidekick. Magomedsharipov shot in a couple of minutes in but was unable to score the takedown. Not long after, Magomedsharipov took Kattar down briefly with a beautiful trip. Kattar planted a nice right later in the frame. Moments later, he threatened with a wining uppercut. Magomedsharipov came with another kick shortly before the round ended.

Round three

Shortly into round three, Magomedsharipov hit Kattar low with a kick. Kattar was ready to go not long after and Magomedsharipov planted a nice left to the body. Katter continued to press forward, however, likely knowing he needs a finish to win the fight. Magomedsharipov teased a level change moments later. Katter landed a couple of big shots that had Magomedsharipov briefly in retreat. Magomedsharipov returned fire. In the final minute, Kattar attacked with a flying knee but Magomedsharipov took him down in return. From the bottom, Kattar fired in a steady stream of punches, before the final horn went. It was a nice late surge from Kattar, but too little, too late, as Zabit was awarded the decision win.
