Lars Sullivan’s Return, When Did Jon Moxley Decide To Leave WWE?

Lars Sullivan’s Return Delayed

WWE had big plans for Lars Sullivan, but there were several issues that might have changed previous directions. While Sullivan is currently out with an injury, Fightful Select reports that his knee injury is taking longer to heal than many expected.

In early January, Sullivan was scheduled for his main roster debut, but an anxiety attack scratched those plans. At the same time, Sullivan would miss out on WrestleMania 35, where he was to challenge John Cena.

Shortly after WrestleMania, Sullivan finally debuted and spent the next few months attacking superstars. Then, he was fined $100,000 after some old comments were reveled online. The comments were considered homophobic, sexist and racist.

Sullivan would lose at Super ShowDown in June to Lucha House Party in a handicap match, but defeated them days later on RAW. It was then reveled that Sullivan would miss 6 to 9 months due to surgery.

WWE was hoping Sullivan would be ready for the Royal Rumble, but now post WrestleMania 36 seems more likely as a program is still needed.

Jon Moxley On When He Decided To Leave WWE

Jon Moxley took part in Starrcast this past Friday, where he was interviewed by Jim Ross. During the interview, Moxley said that WWE really started to annoy him after getting in trouble for saying f—.

He dropped the curse word after winning the United States Championship by screaming it to a referee. The moment might have been caught on camera, but Moxley did not say anything into the microphone or intentionally.

Jon Moxley’s Interview With Jim Ross

“It was in July when I started to realize I was not excited to come back,” said Moxley. “I was excited about wrestling, but I was like do I really have to go back to the WWE?”

“And I was picturing all these terrible ideas they would have for me and it was making me anxious. I told myself, I was going to give them one last shot.”

“I’ve got this heel turn coming up and they kept putting it off. I eventually become a heel and that turned to s— real quick. I knew I was gone in the summer, while I was off. But, I knew I wasn’t going to leave early and deal with the legal s—. I knew I was going to ride out the contract.”

After letting his contract expire, Moxley helped start a revolution by appearing at the conclusion of All Elite Wrestling’s (AEW) first pay per view, Double Or Nothing. The show closed with Moxley taking out several people, including Kenny Omega.

At yesterday’s Full Gear, Moxley and Omega finally met after some delays due to injury. They closed the show in a Lights Out Match, which saw Moxley get the win.

Moxley could always return to WWE, but there is lots of interest in the former Shield member around the world. Plus, he is one of the biggest singles stars on the AEW roster.
