Nothing has been announced yet, in terms of when and who Khabib Nurmagomedov will fight next. But, the UFC’s lightweight champ is reporting that a long-awaited showdown with Tony Ferguson could happen next spring in Brooklyn.
Nurmagomedov talks timeline for Ferguson fight
On account of Ferguson’s 12 fight winning streak, which includes securing the interim belt, the expectation is that he’ll face Nurmagomedov next. Recently Khabib has said that he thinks the bout could take place in March or April . According to a recent tweet, while talking to fans in Uzbekistan, Khabib said this:
“Even if they(Vegas) apologize or not,we found a new venue for the fight. It’s going to be in Brooklyn most likely,im not sure about the date yet. We’re still discussing it with the UFC but it looks like it will happen at the beginning of April.”

Khabib’s issues with the Nevada Commission
There you have it. Hopefully, the bout gets signed sooner than later, and Brooklyn would make sense. Khabib has issues with the Nevada Commission on account of the hefty fine they handed him, after he jumped the cage at UFC 229 to go after Dillon Danis. The champ also didn’t care for the one-year long suspensions that were handed to his teammates Abubakar Nurmagomedov and Zubaira Tukhugov due to their involvement in the post-fight brawl at UFC 229 (those were ultimately reduced by 35 days).
Nurmagomedov (28-0) is coming off a submission win over Dustin Poirier at UFC 242 in September, which followed his tap-out victory over Conor McGregor last October.
