Nate Diaz has the MMA world reeling, as the Stockton star is reporting that there’s an issue with his pre-fight drug test, and that as a result, he’s not headed to New York City for UFC 244.

Diaz’s shocking tweet

On Thursday, Diaz tweeted out that he’s been informed that a pre-fight drug test he submitted has come back for “elevated levels” (warning: explicit language).

Here is what the welterweight reported (transcription via MMA Junkie):

I’m not gonna make it out to NYC for fight week next week because they say I tested with elevated levels that they say might be from some tainted supplements. I call false on that cause I only take Whole Food or natural food supplements. I don’t even eat meat. So until UFC, USADA or whoever is F–KING with me fixed it, I won’t be competing. I’m not gonna play their game and try to hide it or keep quiet, as they suggested. I’m not gonna have my name tainted as a cheater like these other motherfuckers who keep quiet until after the fight just so they can get paid. F–kin’ cheaters. I don’t give a fuck about some money over my dignity and my legacy. I’m not playing along with this bullshit. I’m not staying quiet and figuring it out after the fight. That’s cheating. So fight game I’ll see you when I see you.

Sincerely,

The real baddest mother (expletive) in the game.

Diaz is supposed to fight Jorge Masvidal in the headliner of UFC 244, which is going down at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The outspoken stars are expected to battle for the ‘BMF’ title.

Follow-up reports

As it stands as this is being written, the fight is still officially on, as neither the UFC, USADA or New York officials have made any official statements. ESPN’s Ariel Helwani is reporting that Diaz’s comments are not a prank, but that the bout hasn’t been cancelled yet.

More news to come.
