After quickly dropping his Octagon debut to Walt Harris, Sergey Spivak recorded an impressive, win tonight at UFC 243 over Australian’s own, Tai Tuivasa.

Round one

Tuivasa landed a calf kick seconds in that sent Spivak to the deck, but he allowed the heavyweight to get back to his feet. Tuivasa fired another leg kick but Spivak countered with a takedown. Tuivasa worked his way up and out and threatened with a big elbow. But moments later Spivak swept him to the floor. Tuivasa once again, got back to his feet, but was taken down again right after.

Tuivasa returned to his feet, but yet again, Spivak sent him to the floor with a nice trip. The heavyweights rinsed and repeated the takedown sequence again before the round ended.

Round two

Spivak shot in moments into round two and took Tuivasa to the mat. The latter worked his way up and out, however, yet again. Tuivasa fired in a few shots and Spivak clinched up. Not long after, Spivak scored with another TD. Spivak moved into mount and bloodied Tuivasa with an elbow and punches. From there, Spivak started working arm-triangle-choke. Tuivasa made the mistake of moving closer to the center of the cage, giving Spivak the space to sink in the choke further, and that was that. Dominant performance for Spivak.
