Mike Perry Wants Robbie Lawler to “Grace” Him by Agreeing to Fight

Mike Perry may be coming off a bloody war in August, which left his faced battered, but that hasn’t stopped him from calling out another of the UFC’s most rugged ad respected welterweights.

Perry’s bloody war with Vicente Luque

The 28-year-old Perry took on surging contender Vicente Luque at UFC Uruguay, and he nearly emerged with a win. In fact, one judge scored the fight for “Platinum”. But, Perry didn’t emerge from the bout unscathed. Far from it. The heavy-hander fighter’s nose was completed smashed in the thrilling contest (warning: graphic image).

Perry calls out Lawler

Well, Perry attended UFC Tampa this past Saturday, and he took some time out to speak with the media. While discussing his next fight, the outspoken fighter had this to say (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“If Robbie Lawler would grace me with his name on a contract, let’s go bro,” Perry said. “Let’s put on a show. We’re going to put on a show. None of that wrestling (expletive).

“I might mix it up on you. I might try to change levels, shoot a single leg, take you down, punch you a little bit. Punch you, get you disoriented. Or I might hold tight and box. Who am I? Who am I to be accepted from a guy like that?”

“I just been calling him out,” Perry said. “People call me out. You just can’t accept every fight offer from everybody. I bet a lot of people in this arena would fight me today. They think they would have a chance, but I could probably fight ten of them at one time. Let’s do it though.”

“Robbie, let’s (expletive) go, bro. Let’s show these people how to fight. You’ve been slacking, and I’m unlucky in that I get the best versions of the best dudes.”

Now, obviously, hardcore fans would love to see this fight go down. Or, at least one would think the vast majority of them would. Both fighters are ridiculously tough, pressuring fighters who aren’t afraid to stand back and let strikes fly.

Lawler is coming off a one-sided, decision loss to Colby Covington in August and has lost three in a row. So, the fact Perry isn’t ranked in the top 15 (Lawler is #13), shouldn’t play a factor. Or so you would think.

In terms of Perry’s recovery, he doesn’t foresee any issue, in terms of fighting before the year is up. So, maybe we’ll see Lawler – Perry in December? Here’s hoping.
