Jane Fonda Arrested at Climate Change Rally, 49 Years After She Protested Vietnam

Hollywood star and radical liberal Jane Fonda was arrested by U.S. Capitol police on Friday during a climate change rally in Washington D.C. Fonda’s arrest comes nearly fifty years after she was arrested in Cleveland while protesting the Vietnam war. The Academy Award winner says her protest is inspired by Greta Thunberg.

Jane Fonda Arrested

Fox News reported that U.S. Capitol Police confirmed that Fonda was one of sixteen people arrested on the Capitol steps during the rally. They added that the 81 year-old actress has been charged with “crowding, obstructing or incommoding” during the climate change protest.

Video has surfaced showing officers taking Fonda into custody with her hands zip-tied behind her back as a crowd of onlookers cheer for her.

“We love you Jane,” they can be heard shouting.

Activist Fonda Wanted To Be Arrested

Fonda, who has long been known for her leftwing activism, had previously told The Los Angeles Times that she was moving to Washington D.C. for four months with the goal of getting arrested for her climate change activism. She added that she was inspired to take a leave of absence from her Netflix show “Grace And Frankie” after seeing what teenage climate-change activist Greta Thunberg was doing.

“She read the [Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change] report and she realized that the crisis was barreling straight at us, like a train and looked around and people weren’t behaving appropriately,” Fonda said. “It so traumatized her that she stopped eating. I hadn’t realized that she stopped eating and speaking for almost a year. And that really hit me.”

Fonda also slammed Democrats for failing to advance the left’s climate agenda.

“When [former California Gov. Jerry Brown] came in, in the ’70s, it was great,” she said. “Suddenly, you could afford solar panels and all these kinds of windmills. … But … right to the day he left, he didn’t pay too much attention to the fact that oil companies are drilling all over California next to communities and next to schools and everything.”

Fonda’s Greta Thunberg Inspired Plan

Just before her arrest on the Capitol steps, the Academy Award winning actress credited 16-year-old Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg with inspiring her protest plans.

Fonda On Donald Trump

Fonda, known as “Hanoi Jane” by those who took offense to her stand against the Vietnam War in the 1970s, said last year that though she is against Donald Trump’s policies, she has no hatred for him as a person.

“I feel that I understand a little bit — this is a man who was traumatized as a child by his father, who had a mother that didn’t protect him,” Fonda said. “And the behavior is the language of the wounded.”

Remembering “Hanoi  Jane”

Liberals here in America still celebrate “Hanoi Jane” to this day for what they consider to be her brave activism. But we know the truth.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
