Alex Trebek Health Update: Dr. Oz Visits “Jeopardy!” Host To Update Viewers And Plugs Cancer PSA

Daytime television host Dr. Mehmet Oz just spoke out to give an update about the health of “Jeopardy!” host Alex Trebek, who has been battling Stage IV pancreatic cancer for the past few months.

Dr. Oz Gives Update On Alex Trebek

Dr. Oz shared an update on the condition of Alex Trebek with viewers of Fox & Friends. “The Dr. Oz Show” host, a cardiothoracic surgeon, met with Trebek just a few weeks ago, and said that the legendary “Jeopardy!” game show host was in good spirits at the time.

“He’s an incredible fighter and a great American, who’s Canadian. … He’s a strong man and I think he’s doing much better than I would do,” said Oz, adding that Trebek has been dealing with some minor health problems like mouth ulcers.

Dr. Oz went on to praise Trebek for raising awareness about pancreatic cancer and to urge others to learn more about the “signs and symptoms” of the disease so they can be treated before it could worsen.

“The bigger issue here is that folks, when they do get diagnosed, often don’t get aggressively treated,” Oz said.

Alex Trebek Releases PSA

This comes after Alex Trebek released a new PSA about pancreatic cancer, which he explained is the only cancer with a five-year survival rate in the single digits. The 79 year-old said that it is for this reason that he has made it his mission to raise awareness about the disease.

“I wish I had known sooner that the persistent stomach pain I experienced prior to my diagnosis was a symptom of pancreatic cancer,” Trebek said. “Other common symptoms can include mid-back pain, unexplained weight loss, new onset diabetes and the yellowing of the skin or eyes.”

He then asked his fans to join him and the World Pancreatic Cancer Coalition in wearing purple this November to raise awareness about pancreatic cancer in a lead up to “World Pancreatic Cancer Day,” which falls on November 21.

Dr. Oz Educates Viewers About Pancreatic Cancer

“Pancreatic cancer, like all cancer, hides from you and hides at a really bad place; right in the middle of your body where you can’t tell it’s there,” Oz said.

The host of “The Dr. Oz Show” went on to add that the next step is to convert pancreatic cancer from a lethal disease to one that’s bearable to live with for the remainder of someone’s life.

“You may not cure it, but you won’t die from it,” Oz said.

We applaud Alex Trebek for the bravery he’s shown since being diagnosed with this horrific disease back in March. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as he continues to fight for his life!

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
