UFC 241

The UFC’s heavyweight division has always been an interesting one.

From Randy Couture dominating with his wrestling to the title, from the storm that was Brock Lesnar, to the incredible series of fights between Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos, the division has produced memorable moment after memorable moment.

Most recently, Daniel Cormier rose to the top when he knocked out Stipe Miocic – who appeared to be well on his way to being the face of the division for years to come.

Cormier-Miocic 2: A Historical Rematch

The two are now set for a rematch this coming Saturday night at UFC 241 where Cormier will attempt to earn his second successful title defense after submitting Derrick Lewis late last year.

Cormier, a former Olympic wrestler, is also an ex-UFC light heavyweight champion. He vacated that belt after defeating Miocic, focusing on the “big boys” instead. He was reluctant to move up from 205 pounds due to Velasquez, a close friend and training partner, being in the mix for the title. But once Velasquez was injured, “DC” made the change in his training.

Miocic Stuns Werdum In Brazil

Miocic, meanwhile, tied Couture and Tim Sylvia with his three title defenses – but his came in succession and set a new division best. After knocking out Fabricio Werdum back in 2016 in Brazil, the Cleveland-based firefighter went on to finish Alistair Overeem in the first round, stop dos Santos in the first three minutes and control Francis Ngannou before the loss to Cormier.

Cormier Rocks Miocic, Makes History

In that first meeting between the two kings, many wondered how the wrestling of Cormier would fair against the ultra-tough Miocic. Instead, it was Cormier showcasing his striking against the knockout artist, finishing the fight in just over four minutes.

Breaking Down Cormier Vs. Miocic 2

Dan Hardy and John Gooden are two of the premier voices when it comes to breaking down the key pieces of a fight. In the latest edition of “Inside the Octagon,” the two take on the rematch between Cormier and Miocic.
