UFC 241

The UFC heads to Anaheim, California and the Honda Center this Saturday night with UFC 241: Cormier vs. Miocic 2.

In the featured bout, Daniel Cormier defends his UFC heavyweight title against former champion – and the fighter Cormier won the belt from last year – Stipe Miocic. “DC” scored a finish over Miocic in the first meeting, and the part-time Ohio firefighter will look to gain a measure of revenge in the rematch.

Cormier, who turned 40 years old earlier this year, has hinted this could be his final time fighting. The former Olympic wrestler has started finding his new career choices, which include working as a commentator for fights and coaching high school wrestling.

Miocic, meanwhile, was on quite the roll after winning the title with a shocking knockout of Fabricio Werdum in Brazil. He scored three consecutive title defenses over Alistair Overeem, Junior dos Santos and Francis Ngannou, setting a UFC division record. The UFC 241 fight card will also feature the long-awaited return of Nate Diaz, as he meets former UFC and WEC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis at welterweight. Diaz has not fought since his majority decision loss to Conor McGregor, which came just a few months after he handed McGregor a submission defeat.

Pettis has found his calling at welterweight after competing at 155 pounds and dropping down to featherweight. “Showtime” picked up a second round knockout vs. former UFC welterweight title challenger Stephen Thompson this past March. Related: UFC 241 Primer: Nate Diaz Vs. Conor McGregor 1

On ESPN, the prelim main event features Clay Collard battling Devonte Smith, with Raphael Assuncao squaring off against Cody Sandhagen.
