Undertaker’s SummerSlam Status, MSG Ticket Sales Are Not Great

– Unlike previous years, the belief is Undertaker would make more appearances this year. Despite SummerSlam being less than a month away, there is currently no plan for the Undertaker to appear.

It has been a rollercoaster few months for Undertaker. For the first time in awhile, he opted to not compete at WrestleMania and instead took a match with Goldberg at Super ShowDown; which was ridiculed by fans. Then, there was a quick turnaround as he teamed with Roman Reigns to defeat Shane McMahon & Drew McIntyre earlier in the month at Extreme Rules. The tag team match was nothing to brag about, but Undertaker came off looking strong.

There was speculation that Undertaker would challenge Baron Corbin, Elias and McIntyre between now and WrestleMania. There is still time for WWE to put something together real quick, so anything can happen.

– After a lengthy absence, WWE was going home with RAW and SmackDown coming from Madison Square Garden (MSG) on September 9 and 10. During the Wreslting Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted how WWE was looking to at least sell out of RAW tickets in 15 minutes; but that is not the case.

“Some of it may have been over pricing, which is being rectified from what I understand,” said Meltzer. “But, yes ticket sales were exceedingly disappointing. It’s nothing like what New Japan and Ring Of Honor drew for their show and WWE’s goal was obviously to sell out quicker than them. The goal for this was to be their version of the giant demand 15 minute sell out.”

With summer vacation going on and school starting up again for many in early September, that could have been a factor. Also, when ROH and NJPW ran their show during WrestleMania 35 weekend, it was a first for those promotions and that also could have played a role.

RAW has sold more tickets than SmackDown, but there are still plenty of options available in most areas. The upper deck for both shows out of MSG has lots of tickets left. Once WWE starts slashing prices, they should be able to sell more tickets.
