Leon Edwards Says Scrap With Jorge Masvidal Will Happen on The “Streets” if Need Be

Leon Edwards has a pivotal fight with Rafael dos Anjos coming up, and Jorge Masvidal will battle Ben Askren this Saturday, but “Rocky” clearly hasn’t squashed his beef with “Gamebred”.

As you likely remember, this past March, Masvidal and Edwards made headlines due to post-fight, backstage scuffle they had at UFC London. While Masvidal was being interviewed after his KO win over Darren Till, the two exchanged words (Edwards defeated Gunnar Nelson by split decision that same night). Masvidal approached Edwards and things escalated, really, really quickly.

Well, fast forward to today, and Edwards is booked to fight RDA at UFC San Antonio on July 20th. But, while speaking to MMA Junkie recently, the British fighter had this to say about Masvidal.

“That fight will 100% happen even in the cage or when I see him at the streets,” Edwards said. “So that fight will 100 percent happen. That needs to happen.”

Yup. As noted above, obviously there’s still some ill will here…Now, in terms of the two fighting in the Octagon anytime soon, it will be interesting to see if that materializes. Edwards is currently ranked #11 and Masvidal is #4. But, since RDA is ranked #3, and because Edwards has won 7 in a row, he’ll likely make a big leap up the ranks if he defeats dos Anjos.

And in terms of Askren – Masvidal? Edwards had this take:

“Ben is a weird one, he’s (expletive) but he finds a way to win,” Edwards said. “It’s a weird one but I’ll probably edge Ben for outgrappling him.”

That seems to be the consensus for how that fight will play out. Here is the line-up for UFC 239, which will take place on Saturday in Las Vegas.
