It remains to be seen when and who Darren Till will fight next, but the Liverpool welterweight says he’ll fight again before the year is out.

Till (17-2-1) hasn’t been booked for his next bout, after he was brutally, KO’d by Jorge Masvidal in March. That defeat followed Till’s submission loss to now former champ, Tyron Woodley in September.

Recently Till spoke with Fighters Only, and the 26-year-old relayed that he “definitely” plans to fight before 2019 is up. But, the noted striker also reported that he’s still taking some time to recover (quote via MMA Junkie).

“I’m not saying I’m back, but I’m just in my happy place,” he said. “I feel like the Darren Till before he was fighting in Rotterdam. I got back from Brazil and I was just in this world of going to the gym, training really hard.”

It will be interesting to see who the UFC taps to face Till next, especially since Dana White recently said he now believes they pushed the rising fighter too hard, too quickly. But, one thing is certain, Till really wants to throw hands with Masvidal again.

“Masvidal, he’s a respectful guy,” Till said. “He’d come to me after the fight and I was – not crying, but I had my head down and someone tapped me on my shoulder and it was Masvidal, and he shook my hand. He was like, ‘You nearly had me in the first (round).’”

“I want that (expletive) rematch. I want that rematch.”

So, we’ll see what happens. Chances are a rematch with Masvidal isn’t going to materialize anytime soon, even if the latter loses to Ben Askren on July 6th. Provided Till’s good to go (and it looks like any legal issues he was facing from his arrest in the Canary Islands havebeen addressed), we’ll likely see the him back in action this fall.
