Big Show has not been in the ring for some time, at least not in an active feud. While he still wrestles, fans have been wondering about him. Fortunately, there are some answers now, as Netflix is about to release a show starring him according to Deadline. Here’s the story.
The Big Show Show
While the show may have a little bit of an unfortunate name, it is certainly something that peaked my attention and something I would be willing to watch. Basically, Big Show plays himself (sort of) in a family comedy.
The Big Show Show is a cooperation between WWE Studios and Netflix, as WWE writers Josh Bycel and Jason Berger will be writing the show. However, the show will be aired on Netflix, not the WWE Network.
In addition to Paul Wight (Big Show), the cast of the show is relatively strong. Child actors Reylynn Caster, Juliet Donenfeld, and Lily Brooks O’Briant have been confirmed, who will be playing Big Show’s children. Big Show’s wife will be played by Allison Munn, known from Nicky, Ricky, Dicky, and Dawn.
The Story + Other WWE-Related Releases
The show’s story is relatively simple, but a perfect setup for a comedy. At the start of the show, we will be seeing Big Show’s teenage daughter moving in with his wife and other two daughters. With a house filled with women, he soon finds himself outnumbered and outsmarted. Filming for the show is set to begin on August 9th.
Over the years, there have been a number of wrestlers who made the transition from professional wrestling to acting. One of the biggest success stories is none other than The Rock, which is one of the highest paid action and comedy actors in the world. He recently released a new film called Hobbs & Shaw. This movie also includes a role for former WWE champion Roman Reigns.
Dave Batista is another man who made the transition from the wrestling ring to the movie screen. He played quite the important role in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, and recently did a movie called Stuber, which is doing brilliantly in the box office at the moment. He is also set to appear in My Spy, which will be released in 2020.
And the list of superstars who have played in a movie or series continues with John Cena. Cena has been in movies such as Blockers, The Marine, and 12 Rounds, but he also did the voice of Ferdinand. Still, one of his biggest and best-known roles to date is in Bumblebee. He has some big projects coming up too; this includes Suicide Squad and Fast & Furious 9, with their respective release dates in 2021 and 2020.
A career in the WWE alone can be lucrative, but an increasingly large amount of people are making the transition to the movie screen. We wish Paul Wight a lot of success with his new series. We’ll be watching!
