Urijah Faber wasted no time after his quick win at UFC Sacramento to resume campaigning for a title shot. But, clearly Aljamain Sterling believes “The California Kid’s” out of line…
Faber returned to the Octagon for the first time since 2016 on Saturday, and quickly put away rising bantamweight, Ricky Simon. After the big win, Faber relayed that he’s more than willing to fight the champ Henry Cejudo next, who included Faber in his list of call outs after he won the 135 title. Since then, Faber has also reported that he thinks the chances of securing a fight with Cejudo are strong.
Well, more recently, Sterling made this comment on Facebook (warning: explicit language)
“I usually don’t do this but when I do, it’s to stop the bullshit!”
Back to business! Your title challenger is here! Faber, great finish, but you need to at least beat someone in the Top 10? I’ll handle CeDooDoo, aka Triple Chump from here! ?
Now, whether you believe Faber should jump past Sterling in the title shot queue, likely depends on much stock should be put into older wins and accomplishments. Since Sterling was knocked out by Marlon Moraes in 2017, he’s won four straight, and that includes victories over top contenders in Pedro Munhoz and Jimmie Rivera. The latter defeated Faber back in 2016.
But, few would likely argue that a fight between Cejudo and Faber will garner much more attention than Cejudo – Sterling. So, it wouldn’t be shocking at all if Faber gets tapped for a title shot.
