Darrion Caldwell was Bellator’s bantamweight champ. But he went to Japan to fight in RIZIN’s New Year’s Eve show, lost pretty definitively to Kyoji Horiguchi, and then lost to “the Gooch” in a rematch at Bellator 222 this past weekend. Now Caldwell is no longer the champ.
To catch a fighter at their most vulnerable, you simply have to be there after they’ve lost a fight – especially a hotly-contested, nigh-controversial one. Such is the case with Caldwell. The Bellator cameras followed him around in the lead-up to Saturday night, and caught him in the aftermath. And let’s just say Caldwell doesn’t come across as someone who’s taken their “L” with dignity.
