Shortly before Jose Aldo and Alexander Volkanovski do their best to secure a title shot at UFC 237, Frankie Edgar is doing his best to make sure he remains in the championship conversation.
Edgar has been driving for a bout with Holloway ever since he returned to the win column in April, 2018, by earning a decision win over Cub Swanson. Edgar and Holloway have been booked to fight twice before, but in both instances, injuries punted the match-ups.
Most recently, Edgar was supposed to fight Holloway in March, 2018, but the champ was forced to withdraw. The former lightweight champ agreed to take on Brian Ortega, but the latter finished Edgar in the opening round.
Well, recently the New Jersey star shared out these comments below.
The timing of Edgar’s move here is pretty interesting. If Volkanovski does get by Aldo tomorrow night, his case for a title shot will be pretty compelling. Edgar is one of the all-time greats, however, so if Volkanovski loses or doesn’t score a convincing win, “The Answer” could get his wish.
