UFC St. Petersburg: Alistair Overeem Weathers Early Storm, Takes Out Aleksei Oleinik

Alistair Overeem took some heavy shots from Aleksei Oleinik early on, but he proceeded to finish his former training partner at UFC St. Petersburg.

As Overeem came in moments into the fight, a clinch ensued, and Oleinik pulled guard. In the ensuing scramble, the fight returned to its feet, and it Oleinik tagged Overeem with a heavy right. The latter weathered the storm, and threatened with a knee, but Oleinik continued to press forward with winging punches. Overeem scored with some punishing knees in the clinch, and Oleinik returned fire with punches to the body.

With around 30 seconds left in the first round, Overeem cracked Oleinik with a massive knee to the head that sent him to the floor. After Overeem scored with some punches from above, the fight was stopped.
