Max Holloway could become the latest fighter this Saturday night to hold UFC titles from two different weight divisions, but Renato “Moicano” doesn’t see that happening.

Holloway is moving up to 155 to face Dustin Poirier for an interim lightweight belt at UFC 236. As you surely know, “Blessed” is the current, reigning king of the featherweight division. So, if Holloway wins the interim belt, the expectation is that he’ll advance to face the undisputed champ, Khabib Nurmagomedov later this year. As a result, there’s ongoing speculation as to what the future holds for the featherweight title, if Holloway wins on Saturday night,

Well, the featherweight contender “Moicano” recently had this to say about that subject, while talking to MMA Junkie:

“It’s maybe an opportunity for another guy to take that belt because Max is going to fight with Dustin,” “Moicano” said. “I don’t think he will win, but let’s see. The fight is always tough, but I’m confident with the win of Dustin. I think Dustin will win and Max will come to featherweight to defend his title.”

This is somewhat interesting to hear, as the betting line odds have Holloway as the favorite in the -205 to -220 range. Although, it should be noted that “Moicano” has been training at American Top Team, which is also the home base for Poirier.

“Moicano” (13-2-1), meanwhile, is coming off a stoppage loss to Jose Aldo in February. Prior to that he scored consecutive wins over Calvin Kattar and Cub Swanson. So, the Brazilian fighter is likely a big win or two away from fighting for the 145 crown, whether it’s vacated or not.

UFC 236 will take place in Atlanta, Georgia.
