UFC London: Jorge Masvidal Calls Ben Askren a “Weasel And Coward”

Ahead of UFC London, verbal exchanges between Darren Till and Ben Askren have made headlines, but recently Jorge Masvidal had some less than kind things to say about “Funky”.

Masvidal is preparing to face Till in the headliner of Saturday’s event, and Askren has let it be known that he wants to face the winner.  In fact, Askren is in London this week for the card, and chances are he’ll call out the winner this weekend.

Well, not everyone believes Askren should be looking at either Till or Masvidal, on account of his controversial win over Robbie Lawler at UFC 235. Askren has argued that the submission victory was legit, but recently Masvidal had this to say about that subject and the decorated wrestler (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“As a man, as a fighter, having pride in what I do, I choke somebody out, or I think choke them out, but when I see the replay and see the guy put the thumbs up, in my head, I would say, ‘Man, I didn’t choke this guy out,’” Masvidal said. “And as a man, having pride, I would say, ‘Let’s do it again,’ especially after he (expletive) decapitated me on the slam, busted up my face. ‘Let’s go it again,’ because I definitely didn’t choke you out. Because I’ve never seen nobody go to sleep like this. That’s the first.

“But that’s how much of a weasel and coward he is. No, no, I’m gone already. I wouldn’t dare repeat that route again. That just shows you his character. He’s a (expletive).”

There you have it. It should be noted that Masvidal and Lawler trained together at American Top Team, before the latter departed. But, “Gamebred” may have said the exact same thing, even if that had never been the case.

Now it will be interesting to see what happens with Askren. Initially following UFC 235, Dana White relayed he wanted Lawler and Askren to fight again. But Askren really doesn’t seem to be on board with that idea and is looking ahead.

Here is the line-up for the March 16th card.
