The NFL Just Got the Last Laugh Over Colin Kaepernick

Liberals everywhere rejoiced a few weeks ago when it was reported that the Colin Kaepernick had made millions off of his settlement with the NFL after he claimed that teams colluded to blacklist him from being resigned. Now, however, new reports are coming in stating that the confidential agreement was not nearly as lucrative as was initially thought.

Fox News reported that sources briefed on the deal say that Kaepernick and Eric Reid, the two players who had made these allegations against the league, will receive less than $10 million in the deal. Though it has not been revealed how much money each of the two players will get, this is far less than the tens of millions of dollars that Kaepernick was hoping to receive when he took NFL to court.

Had Kaepernick come out victorious in a court case, the NFL’s bargaining agreement with its players would have been entitled to damages worth up to three times what he would have made had he not been blacklisted. It’s been estimated that Kaepernick would have been worth around $30 million, meaning that he could have made upwards of $90 million had he moved forward with the case. The fact that he agreed to a deal garnering him a small fraction of that payout indicates that he may not have been as confident in his own case as he led the public to believe.

Kaepernick has not been signed to another team since leaving the San Francisco 49ers in 2017. Since then, liberals have tried to portray him as a martyr who was blacklisted for racist reasons due to his infamous protests that saw him taking a knee during the national anthem before his games. Others, however, have pointed out that he led the 49ers to an abysmal losing record during his final season as their quarterback, and that he has not been signed by another team because he was a lackluster football player.

Given the fact that he took this deal, perhaps Kaepernick knows deep down that he is not a martyr at all and is instead a subpar football player who has no business playing in the NFL at all.

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
