Rosie O’Donnell Launches Attack on Whoopi Goldberg

Rosie O’Donnell has just spoken out to blast her former cohost Whoopi Goldberg, who she previously hosted the ABC talk show “The View” with.

In the new book “Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of ‘The View,'” which is due to be released on April 2, O’Donnell held nothing back when she was asked about Goldberg.

“Whoopi Goldberg was as mean as anyone has ever been on television to me, personally — while I was sitting there,” O’Donnell said, according to Fox News. “Worse than Fox News. The worst experience I’ve ever had on live television was interacting with her.”

O’Donnell went on to admit that she had been a fan of Goldberg’s and had looked forward to working with her. However, it did not take long for her to become disillusioned by her when they were both on the panel of the talk show.

“She’s a minority, feminist, smart, funny, groundbreaking legend who is black in America,” O’Donnell continued. “I’m never going to not have respect for Whoopi Goldberg. But that was a painful experience, personally and professionally.”

O’Donnell claimed that problems between the two began back in 2009 when she disagreed with Goldberg about whether Hollywood director Roman Polanski was guilty of raping a 13-year-old girl in the 1970s. During the conversation, Goldberg infamously defended Polanski, saying that it “wasn’t rape-rape.”

O’Donnell left “The View” in 2007 only to return for the 2014-2015 season, thinking that things might be better between her and Goldberg. Much to her dismay, however, she claimed that Goldberg continued to shut down her ideas to the point where her health was impacted.

“I thought my head was going to explode. My doctor called me and said, ‘Come in right now. Your heart rate during that is dangerous for you. I don’t want you doing that show anymore,'” O’Donnell alleged. In the end, she left once again after the end of that season.

“Some people would say, ‘What’s going on with you and Whoopi?’” O’Donnell concluded. “I was like, ‘Are you watching the show? It’s pretty much right there.’ I have no desire for a public feud.”

“The View” has always been somewhat of a mess on its live shows, but clearly, it’s even messier behind the scenes! Both O’Donnell and Goldberg have shown themselves to be very confrontational in the past, so it should really come as no surprise that their personalities clashed.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
