Roseanne Barr Blasts ABC in Return to Stand-Up

Earlier this week, we reported that Roseanne Barr had made her first step back into stand-up comedy since being fired and blacklisted by Hollywood last May. Now, details of her routine have leaked, and it’s been revealed that Barr used it to blast ABC.

USA Today reported that Barr was invited to perform onstage at the Laugh Factory in Las Vegas, Nevada by fellow comedian Andrew Dice Clay, who introduced her as a “close friend.” As soon as Barr began her routine, she had the audience laughing hysterically at her humorous take on her not-so-funny situation.

“I’m gonna talk about gettin’ fired. I’m sure a lot of people relate to that,” Barr said, asking the audience for “prayers for me that I don’t flake out.”

“When you get fired you get real suicidal, but I’d never kill myself because that would make too many (expletive) people happy, and I’m not about making people happy,” she continued.

She went on to skewer ABC, the network that fired her, canceled her show “Roseanne,” and rebooted it as “The Conners” without her.

“Dear ABC, when you asked me back to once again bail out your (expletive), (expletive), low-rated network, I did so with the same vigor I’ve always rocked,” Barr said, “and I delivered you the highest ratings that you’ve had in ten (expletive) years.”

“Roseanne” was a huge success for ABC, debuting to 18.2 million viewers and remaining strong in the ratings throughout the entire season. “The Conners” has not been nearly as successful since its debut in the fall.

“At the first sign of controversy you killed me off with a drug overdose,” Barr continued, “But you know what, I ain’t dead, (expletive)!”

After her set was done, the audience gave Barr a standing ovation that let her know just how missed she has been.

It’s so nice to see Barr get back in the saddle and return to what she does best, which is make people laugh. Her situation is anything but funny as she has been through Hell and back in the past few months, but she is still finding ways to see the humor in it. This is what a great comic does, and we can only hope that this is the beginning of many more stand-up comedy routines from Barr.

We also hope that liberals will finally back off of Barr and allow her to continue her career in peace. The reception she got at the Laugh Factory shows that many Americans dearly miss Barr and her brand of comedy. Barr has paid dearly for the offense she committed, and she deserves a second chance just like everyone else.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
