Roman Reigns Supports Off-Season for Wrestlers

The WWE has one of the most grueling schedules in professional sports, with little to no time for a holiday. One of WWE’s biggest superstars, Roman Reigns, has now spoken out about the possibility of an off-season for WWE wrestlers. Here is the story.

The Ability to Recover

Sports such as wrestling are heavily impacted by injuries, especially in a company such as the WWE where there are no breaks or interruptions. The injured list is forever growing. Is an off-season what the WWE needs?

One of the WWE superstars who supports the idea of an off-season is none other than Roman Reigns.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have an off-season like most sports or other kinds of forms of entertainment or competition but, you know, I think if we could make it work, it would give a great benefit to our performers and our fans as well.”

An off-season could be beneficial for superstars. Not only for their physical health, but also for their mental health. Imagine having to work every day and never getting a holiday. There has been quite a record of WWE stars who have suffered mental health problems as a result of the grueling schedule ranging from addiction to panic attacks. Getting an off-season would provide wrestlers with the ability to recover physically and mentally.

Would an Off-Season Work for WWE Fans?

I believe it would be better for the wrestling industry altogether. As it is, we are constantly bombarded with wrestling events and pay-per-views that just seem to increase in duration. Who can pay attention for the full seven hours at WrestleMania? Even I need a break and I’m just watching it! I cannot imagine what that is like for wrestlers.

The so-called off-season would not only allow WWE superstars to recharge their batteries, it would also solve some problems for fans. Without sounding disrespectful to the wrestling world, I do get burned out on wrestling. There are several shows to watch during the week, not incorporating any additional NXT shows or pay-per-views. Having a month or two break from it all would not be so bad.

I believe the WWE is scared to put in an off-season due to competition from the indies. If a full-blown off-season does not fit in their plans, why not implement an off-season for individual wrestlers. For example, you have a couple of months of Roman Reigns. Then, when he has his break, Seth Rollins can take over for a couple of months. Individual off-seasons may work, and it makes the universe all the more excited for a return.

Off-season would benefit the WWE greatly; it could reduce the amount of injuries and mental health problems among WWE wrestlers. Whether or not an off-season will happen remains to be seen.
