NCAA Wrestling Championships Begin Thursday In Pittsburgh

Many of the top fighters in MMA right now got their first big breaks and spotlights competing on the wrestling mats.

The 2019 NCAA Wrestling Championships begin Thursday in Pittsburgh and it’s possible that several future UFC, Bellator and other MMA champions will be in action.

Two wrestlers with that potential are heavyweights Gable Steveson and Anthony Cassar, who met for the Big Ten title recently.

ESPN and ESPNU will be home to all sessions over the three-day tournament.

Some former NCAA champions who made it big in MMA include Brock Lesnar, Johny Hendricks, Phil Davis, Mark Coleman, Josh Koscheck, Ben Askren, Kevin Randleman and Darrion Caldwell.

The world of MMA is one of the few sports that brings together people from all walks of life. I try my best to tell those stories and also present breaking news to the masses.
