Jenny McCarthy Shares Her Experience Being Bullied on ‘The View’

Jenny McCarthy may have been a co-host on the ABC talk show “The View” for only one season, but she’s just come back to haunt the show in a big way by exposing how nasty it really is behind the scenes.

Fox News reported that McCarthy sat down with Ramin Setoodeh to give an interview for his new book “Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of The View,” and in an excerpt that was published on Monday, it’s clear that she has nothing nice to say about her time there.

“Every day I went home and I was miserable,” McCarthy lamented. “It really was the most miserable I’ve been on a job in my 25 years of show business.”

McCarthy specifically took great issue with Barbara Walters, the creator of the show who was still a panelist during the 2013-2014 season that she appeared on. McCarthy recalled Walters losing her temper on her during a debate about her son’s autism and whether it could be cured.

“I’ve never seen a woman yell like that before until I worked with Barbara Walters,” she said. “One of my heroes just chewed me a new a–hole.”

McCarthy added that Walters would nitpick at everything she did, especially her clothing choices.

“Barbara would check out what I was wearing. If she didn’t agree with it, or it didn’t compliment her outfit, I had to change,” she recounted. “Mind you, she doesn’t look at anyone’s clothes but mine… I was a human Barbie doll.”

Jenny McCarthy blasts Whoopi Goldberg

Walters wasn’t the only person McCarthy had a problem with on set, as she also said that Whoopi Goldberg was no fun to work with.

“People don’t understand. Whoopi can knock over anyone in a debate. Her voice is not only strong in meaning but in sound. I was able to get a point out in three words — like ‘I don’t agree’ — and that’s all I would be able to say. I would be stepped on or interrupted,” McCarthy explained. “She had an addiction to controlling all of it and everybody.”

This should come as no surprise to anyone who has ever watched an episode of “The View.” The tension between the panelists when they’re on the air makes it clear that there is a very toxic atmosphere behind the scenes. While Walters isn’t a panelist on the show anymore, Goldberg and her pal Joy Behar have certainly kept this toxicity going in the years since she left.

Hopefully, ABC will take notice of what McCarthy had to say and either make some serious changes with “The View” or get rid of it for good.

James Conrad

James Conrad’s passion for politics is only overshadowed by his longstanding interest in Hollywood. His unique perspective as a gay conservative fuels him to challenge celebrity views and those who think they have a right to tell anyone how to think or vote. James proudly wields his minority point of view to combat identity politics and cut through his typecast. Fun fact: James’ guilty pleasure is the British royal family.
