Conor McGregor didn’t mention any names, but the former UFC champ has provided a timeline for when he’s hoping to fight next.

The Irish superstar was in Chicago this weekend for the city’s Saint Patrick’s Day parade, and during the festivities, he was interviewed by ABC – 7 TV. When asked whether he has a fight booked, McGregor reported this (quote via MMA Junkie):

“We’re currently in negotiations,” McGregor said. “We’re aiming for July – we’ll see what happens. I am staying ready. This morning I was doing incline sprints on the treadmill on my program, the McGregor F.A.S.T. program, staying in a hotel room. So we’re staying on it, getting work in as we go.”

So, it will be interesting to see what happens here. Historically the UFC holds a massive event during the first week of July, so, one could infer that McGregor’s referencing that event. But, this comes not long after reports that the UFC wanted to book Donald Cerrone vs. McGregor, but that a sticking point is whether the fight would be a headliner. Would the UFC have Cerrone – McGregor, a non-title fight, as the main event for that card?

McGregor was also in the news recently after he was arrested for allegedly taking the phone of a man and smashing it. In October, McGregor faced lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov and was submitted in the fourth round.
