More On Kenny Omega's AEW Role + AEW Announces New Partnership

-As we reported earlier, Kenny Omega made his in-person debut for All Elite Wrestling last night. The company held a ticket party in Las Vegas, the site of it’s first PPV-Double or Nothing-this May. Omega debuted, and then got to hype his first All Elite match. He will face Chris Jericho on the Double or Nothing event on May 25.

After the event, Pro Wrestling Sheet caught up with Cody and Brandi Rhodes to discuss Kenny Omega’s arrival, along with his role within the company. Omega is not only a wrestler, but has the added title of Executive Vice President, similar to both Rhodes and The Young Bucks.

All Elite Wrestling made another significant announcement yesterday, prior to the Las Vegas ticket party.

The company announced a partnership agreement with the premiere wrestling organization in Mexico-AAA. This announcement paid dividends during the ticket event, as several AAA performers were on hand and are expected to participate in Double or Nothing this May.

The announcement is an important one for All Elite Wrestling. Previously it was announced that the company had tried to negotiate partnerships with two major promotions-Ring of Honor and New Japan Pro Wrestling-but failed to come to terms. Without working agreements to leverage those promotions’ talents, AEW was looking to find new opportunities.

Aligning with AAA should be an excellent move. The Mexican promotion has a wealth of experience to go along with many capable Lucha stars. These stars, combined with AEW’s ever-expanding roster of talent, should create many exciting matches in the future.
