WWE To Grant Release Requests?, Reason For Lackluster NXT Debuts

– Thanks to All Elite Wrestling (AEW), the wrestling spectrum is changing significantly now, and the Internet has been a buzz with a variety of talent allegedly asking the WWE to release them of their contractual obligations. With a huge star like Chris Jericho joining AEW, many wrestling talents may be looking to follow in his footsteps in hopes to align with a fresh and new promotion.

But, while it has been reported that some superstars in the likes Maria and Mike Kanellis and The Revival have already asked the company for their release, the real question is whether or not the WWE will accommodate these requests.

Wrestle Votes on Twitter recently posted on this subject, stating it was very unlikely.

– As part of the McMahon Family’s promise of a “fresh start”, a slew of new faces were promised from NXT. This week, the WWE Universe caught a glimpse of these callup debuts. With the exception of Lars Sullivan, whose status on the main roster is still unknown, fans saw Lacey Evans, Heavy Machinery, EC3, and Nikki Cross on both Monday Night RAW and SmackDown LIVE.

Sadly though, Nikki was the only talent of these NXTers who actually got to wrestle, leaving the rest of the crew with lame parts in promos, and quick backstage snippets as parts of other segments.

The Wrestling Observer Newsletter chimed in on the reason behind their anticlimactic debuts, stating that Vince McMahon simply wanted these new talents to be seen on camera, and they were placed in the background because they simply aren’t sure how they can be used at this point in time. The idea behind this is that fans won’t remember these lackluster debuts once the superstars are placed in a solid storyline.

So, for the time being, the WWE Universe should get used to the fact that we will probably continue to only see snippets of these NXT newcomers to the main roster, until storylines have been thought up for them.
