The WWE claims it is starting to listen to fans, but the latest development in the WWE Universal Championship picture seems to indicate otherwise. While many fans are hopeful the Lesnar reign is over, I fear it won’t be the case.

Lesnar Set for WrestleMania Match

Brock Lesnar

One of the big things that contradicts the so-called “changes” claimed by the WWE is the continued plan of the WWE to have Lesnar dethroned at the next WrestleMania.

Given this fact, I fear for Finn’s career after this match. Brock is not exactly known for his willingness to prepare for matches. However, he is willing to do one suplex after another and not much else. If the same happens to Finn, he can kiss his chances for the Universal Championship goodbye in 2019.

Replacing Strowman

Braun Strowman

According to Dave Meltzer, which I do take with a serious grain of salt, the sudden change in plans for the Royal Rumble was not sudden at all. In fact, it had been planned for months.

Braun Strowman could be taken out of the match for two reasons. The first is that the WWE wants Strowman to take the title from Lesnar at Wrestlemania. The second is that Strowman cannot take another loss against Lesnar, otherwise his “Monster Among Men” character would no longer be believable. So, they decided to take him out of the title picture all together.

Vince has not been the biggest fan of Finn Balor, believing he is not over enough with the WWE Universe. Vince certainly has blinders on in that regard, but it could explain why Finn is chosen to take the loss against Lesnar.

Don’t get me wrong, there is no absolute guarantee that Finn will lose, but let us look at things a little more realistically. The WWE is not going to let Lesnar lose until WrestleMania, despite the feelings of wrestling fans. He pulls casuals, but that’s it.

Rollins Called as Favourite

Seth Rollins

Another reason why Finn could take a loss at the Royal Rumble is the rumor about Seth Rollins. If rumor is to be believed, Seth is the one that will take the Universal Championship from Brock Lesnar. Of course, that does leave us wondering what will happen to Strowman.

While there have been some minor changes to the WWE roster, there is one major thing the WWE has refused to change over the past couple of weeks. Brock Lesnar is bad for business, and I do not understand why the WWE keeps him on with his current contract. There is a reason why titles are implemented in professional wrestling, and there is little to fight for right now on Raw.

I don’t know what more the WWE needs to see to decide on the fate of Lesnar. There are loads of talented people on the Raw roster including Drew McIntyre, Finn Balor, and Seth Rollins. Instead, the WWE continues to put Lesnar on a pedestal, and frankly, it insults my intelligence.
