Stephen Thompson is more than willing to welcome former UFC lightweight champion Anthony Pettis to the welterweight division.
After hearing of the challenge laid down by “Showtime” recently, “Wonderboy” has agreed to a potential fight.
“For the fans,” he posted on Instagram. “If (Pettis) wants to come try out 170 y’all know I’m ready. We both got highlight reels, let’s do it!”
Thompson, who won 13 of his first 14 pro bouts, fought Tyron Woodley for the title to a draw in 2016. After dropping a rematch via majority decision after, Thompson earned a decision vs. Jorge Masvidal before falling to Darren Till last May.
Pettis is just 3-6 over his last nine fights, including an October loss to Tony Ferguson.
