Smackdown Live: 8 pm EST

Show opens up and Becky Lynch comes out to the ring. She gets a big ovation from the audience. Becky talks about her desire to headline WrestleMania and makes the case as to why she’s going to take Asuka’s title this Sunday at Royal Rumble. Smackdown Women’s Champion Asuka comes out to interrupt. When Asuka gets to the ring and starts talking some babble at Becky, the crowd loudly chants Becky’s name and drowns out Asuka’s voice.

Then Charlotte Flair’s music hits and she comes out and makes the case as to why she’s, in fact, the most deserving of being champion. Asuka suddenly attacks Becky from behind and assaults her as Becky struggles to defend herself. Officials run out and separate the two women but they get back at each other. Becky is thrown into the barricade but she fires back and throws Asuka over the announce table and whips her with her leather jacket.

Becky continues her beatdown until finally she takes her leave, with officials anxiously following to make sure she does.

Vince McMahon comes out to the ring to oversee the face-off for the WWE Championship match at Royal Rumble between champ Daniel Bryan and AJ Styles. Bryan says he won’t enter the ring because Styles is a sociopath. He stands on the outside cutting a promo about how hopeless the future of humanity is because of how disgusting everyone is. Bryan says that’s why he can’t lose the title because he uses his power for the greater good.

Bryan says the crowd only cheers for Styles because he doesn’t make them think. Bryan makes them think about their flaws and that’s why they boo him. Bryan says he’s the Champion of the Planet. Styles says Bryan talks about saving the planet but he didn’t ride his bike to the arena, he took a plane. Styles says Bryan is fickle. Bryan is scared to step in the ring with him, Styles says, and he should be.

Vince finally says he’s had enough of this and tells Bryan to get in the ring. Bryan says of course Vince doesn’t want to listen to this. It was his baby boomer generation that ruined the planet the most. Bryan goes off on Vince for contributing to the problem of dumbing down the population. Vince yells for Bryan to just get in the ring. But Styles says Bryan doesn’t have to get in the ring and goes running after him.

Styles puts a beating on Bryan but then Bryan uses Vince as a human shield. Styles hesitates and Bryan capitalizes with a Running Knee that lays Styles out. Bryan makes off with his belt in hand.
