Hulk Hogan Talks Kenny Omega and the WWE

Even those who do not watch wrestling know who Hulk Hogan is, so there is no doubt he is one of the biggest wrestling stars to have ever lived. Despite falling from grace a couple of years ago, he is now on his way up again.

Naturally, The Hulkster has some opinions on some of the indie stars out there including the recent rumors about Kenny Omega. So, what does The Hulkster think about Omega?

Omega Has Never Wrestled for the WWE

Considering the fact that Kenny Omega is a massive star and never has wrestled for the WWE, it certainly proves wrestlers do not need the brand anymore to make it to the big time. Even Hulk Hogan noticed this and mentioned it during his interview with Sports Illustrated.

“It’s tough to go your whole life without eating at McDonald’s or riding in a Chevrolet. If you don’t touch on the WWE, the story’s not complete. But maybe Kenny could be the exception.”

Hogan Talks the Japanese Wrestling Scene

Many people believe that the WWE is the only place Hogan’s ever been. While it is true that Hogan has always worked for the McMahon’s, he actually did spend some time in Japan. He had positive things to say about the wrestling scene there during his interview.

“I could have stayed in Japan. I loved working there with Freddie Blassie. That’s when I was working for Vince Sr. He sent me over there and I fell in love with the place. I used to call him after a four-week tour and ask if I could stay the extra six days until the next tour started. I loved it in Japan.”

Hogan’s Statements Can Have a Big Impact!

While the comments made by Hulk Hogan only seem like they are supposed to flatter Omega and New Japan, it could be much more than that. Hogan’s statements actually prove that wrestlers do not require the WWE to be successful, a dangerous statement to make in a time where a serious threat to the WWE has emerged.

Rumors are rampant that many WWE stars are looking to jump ship to AEW wrestling. Now, I have no doubt that some wrestlers are waiting to see how this situation pans out. Some might be hesitant to leave the WWE, so the initial success of AEW could be a serious deciding factor, as are statements made by the likes of The Hulkster.

The admiration Hogan has for Kenny Omega could be a message of hope for many mistreated stars on the current WWE roster. It could be enough for them to take the leap to New Japan or the soon-to-be main rival of the WWE, All Elite Wrestling. Still, out of all the speculation, one thing is certain. Kenny Omega has proven that the WWE is not the end destination to success.
