UFC Milwaukee: Al Iaquinta Out Slugs Kevin Lee

Al Iaquinta moved to 2-0 against Kevin Lee tonight at UFC Milwaukee, as ‘Ragin’ Al’ outscored the lightweight contender tonight in the card’s thrilling main event.

Iaquinta mixed in several level changes in round one, and followed up with some nice strikes, including a spinning elbow that just missed. Lee landed his fair share of punches on Iaquinta as well, which marked up the latter’s left eye.

Lee finally went for a takedown in round two and took Iaquinta to the floor. Lee took the back of Iaquinta and secured a body lock, and then hammered away with punches from behind. Iaquinta defended fairly well, however, and managed to get back to his feet. As the second round wound down, Iaquinta bested Lee in the proceeding striking exchanges.

Iaquinta came out pressuring in round three and Lee’s face started to show signs of the strikes. Midway into the round Lee scored with another takedown and in the ensuing scramble, he took Iaquinta’s back again. Lee battled to sink in the rear-naked-choke, but Iaquinta defended well.

In round four, Iaquinta came out winging big right hands, and he may have stunned Lee with one of them. Moments later, Iaquinta cracked Lee with a head kick that the latter acknowledged with a nod. Iaquinta continued to hunt with his right hand, but Lee returned fire with jabs and body kicks of his own.

Round five saw Lee shot not long in, and Iaquinta managed to keep the fight standing, after a protracted battle along the cage. Lee fired in a big kick to the body but Iaquinta kept moving forward, winging big hooks. ‘Ragin’ Al’ planted some huge rights as the fight wore down that wobbled Lee. Outstanding fight.
