Staying true to form as the man who made his name peddling salacious gossip, Piers Morgan took to the U.K.’s Daily Mail to air his grievances with his former friend, Meghan Markle. However, in Morgan’s typical style of little self-awareness, he proved Markle made a sound judgment call by dropping the friendship when she started a relationship with Prince Harry.

In an article with an incredibly long title “Meghan Markle is a ruthless social climbing actress who has landed the role of her life and is determined to milk it for all she can – and that’s why the Palace is beginning to turn on her,” Morgan began his tale of woe by recounting how his friendship with Markle began when he followed the then actress on Twitter and found out to his delighted surprise that she was a fan of his.

Piers Morgan and Meghan Markle have a long history

Morgan recounts his long conversations with Markle and also her “Suits” co-star Rick Hoffman over the subsequent months — including Morgan having Hoffman on his weekday television show “Good Morning Britain” — up and until the moment she met Prince Harry. In fact, Morgan claims earlier on the same day Markle would meet Prince Harry for the first time, the two met for a drink at his favorite London pub and chatted for over an hour.

“She asked me for advice on her career and the media,” Morgan says. “And if she could come on Good Morning Britain next time she was over, which I said I would arrange.”

And that’s the last time Morgan would hear from her. He claims it’s the one and only time he’s ever been “ghosted” and he remembers it clearly because of that.

What is ghosting?

Ghosting is the term for when a friend or love interest suddenly and inexplicably stops responding to calls and texts.

While Morgan admits from the get-go that he made his name selling gossip — a lot of which was about the Royal Family — he sees the choice Meghan made to eschew his friendship in lieu of Prince Harry’s love and admiration as a character flaw. In reality, by publishing his beef with Markle over the ending of their friendship, he’s proven Markle — and Hoffman — made the smart choice.

Is there any doubt that Morgan would’ve used Meghan‘s friendship as leverage to advance his own career?

Piers Morgan doesn’t like Meghan Markle because she beat him to the punch.

Morgan wrote, “I’d been ‘played’ by a couple of B-list actors, who were clearly just using me to advance their careers.” What he’s most upset about, however, is that he was robbed of the chance to do exactly the same.

Now that Markle is subject to the rumor mill for the rest of her life, one can be certain Morgan will be at the forefront of Meghan-bashing for the rest of his.
