Ben Askren Warns Kamaru Usman Not to be a “Hypocrite” Via Social Media Slam

Ben Askren continues to mix things up in the UFC’s welterweight division, via his social media accounts, as recently “Funky” targeted fellow contender, Kamaru Usman.

Recently it was reported that the UFC was hoping to land a bout between welterweight champ Tyron Woodley and Colby Covington for UFC 233, January 26th. But since Woodley is still recovering from a hand injury, he can’t fight on that date. So, the promotion reportedly tried lining up a fight between Usman and Covington instead, but “Chaos” is waiting for a title fight.

Well, more recently, Askren took to Instagram, and he delivered this fiery message to Usman (quotes via MMA Fighting):

“Mr. Usman, we find ourselves in a situation where you are looking like quite the hypocrite,” Askren said. “As we all know, Mr. Tyron Woodley is injured, can’t fight Colby. We know you want to fight Colby. We know Colby’s a scared little b*tch, and that’s fine. But I have made my services available to you for a fight on January 26 and now you’re trying to play the same game as Colby is. Colby’s ignoring you, now you’re ignoring me.”

“Listen, I know you hear me because you have a measly little 30,000 Twitter followers, a tiny amount of the social media following that I do,” Askren added. “I know you hear me, Marty, so make sure you respond to this. Don’t be a hypocrite, don’t be a little b*tch like Colby. I’ll be there, January 26. I hope you’re there also.”

Harsh words for not one, but two of the division’s best. Now, it should be noted that Askren is expected to face former champ, Robbie Lawler at UFC 233. So, if Usman did agree to fight Askren (if that offer’s been tabled) then chances are that fight would be for an interim title (which is absurd, since Woodley just submitted Darren Till in September), or a guaranteed title shot.

Usman has been campaigning for a fight with Covington for months, and he’s accused the latter of ducking him multiple times.

UFC 233 will be hosted by Anaheim, California.
